The article states that Sun approached HP first and got turned down. So if
it's a poke in the eye at HP, HP at least is pointing and saying "stick it
right here". 

IBM makes about the most sense to me as a buyer for Sun. As Phil said in a
previous post, who else do they really fit with? They would be a "bag on the
side" of any of the Wintel manufacturers.

I know! SGI could buy them! Oh, wait...
