[rescue] AS400 iSeries questions...

I'm considering obtaining an AS400 to learn things like OS/400 and RPG and
I'm wondering about a couple of things.

1) With the black iSeries models can you use a copy of the OS from
somewhere else or is it tied to the processor?

2) What's the reboot cycle like on these?  Due to electricity I probably
won't want to run this all the time.

3) What's the maintenance on these like?  Do I have to patch regularly
even if I'm not opening it to the outside world?  Do I have to reboot it
every night? When I patch?
