Yeah.  Nothing to lose from doing so.  It's gotten steadily worse in
successive major releases of Windows, until the XP version is about as
much use as a bicycle to a fish.

Do tell?  I've managed to avoid XP thus far, and am not up to speed on
the finer points of bludgeoning it into submission.

I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find a way to turn that
stuff off.  If you know where the magic's hidden, please share the secret.
