I remember trying to use a LEE-NUX system for this purpose and there was
something
special I had to do as well in terms of the way it understands things.   cant
remember.
I generally prefer the bsd variant of os's :)

Possibly.  I never solved the problem, or even figured out a way to
determine exactly why it was failing.  My best guess was that something
was attempting to read as though from a UFS filesystem, and the
underlying filesystem wasn't UFS.
