IDE DVD set to master, not slave or cable select, right?

Are you using the original IDE cable or an 80 pin IDE cable (use the original, not sure if it matters, but you'll get no performance gain from the 80 pin cable).

The DVD drive is "known good" correct?

The DVDs can be read in other machines (like the computer that burned them) right?

Updated setting are persisting in OpenBoot - correct?

Power on banner looks normal, right - mac ID not garbage (all zeroes or all "FF"), right?

System clock holding time?
