" From: "Doug Simmons" <dsimmons at lib.siu.edu>
"
" I have Googled, RTFM and sacrificed goats, nothing has helped so far.
" Want to rcp on private gigabit network from hostA to hostB
"
" Two boxes are hostA and hostB
" On the private network, they are hostA.gig and hostB.gig
"
" Note: rcp is not normally allowed on the public network: only temporary
" as I troubleshoot.
"
" hostA: $ rcp file hostB:/path
" works.
"
" hostA: $ rcp file hostB.gig:/path
" doesn't. "Protocol error, hostB.gig closed connection"
"
" in.rlogind perms are good. hostB not blocking rsh.
"
" Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
what's in /etc/hosts? /etc/hosts.equiv [if any]? .rhosts? i've seen
cases where specifying the host exactly as it appears in one or all of
these places was necessary.
