    It's not even close.  The interface is a delightfully simple
affair with pretty much straight control lines to control stop/
start and two channels (one for read, one for write) for each of
the nine bits.  There's an adapter interface that is shimmed in
between the drive and a fairly generic Data General magtape
control board.

    This stuff predates SCSI.  That, and most "modern" drives
tend to be streamers; this one's a full stop/start that come down
from full speed to zero, and accelerate back to full in the IRG.
