It's muddy, but the IC looks like this, to me anyway:

It looks like something I've seen before, in fact, I'm pretty sure I've
seen something very close to it before.  

The boards in my stereo were the first thing that came to mind.

This would be a great picture for IEEE to run in their monthly
newsletter's photo contest.
