[rescue] Solaris help

Not entirely rescue, but I need a bit of help.

Trying to install the Solaris 9 Companion CD stuff on a box, even with
DISPLAY unset, it keeps trying to connect to the (no-existant) X server.
This is a box at work, I'd rather not push the X stuff over the VPN if I
don't have to.  How do I convince it to run in text mode, like I've done
a hundred times before?
