That depdends upon how and what you code. If you use a super deluxe
incremental compiler/gui based integrated development environment,
then you need a "real computer".

I learned to write code on a tty and keypunch so I feel most comfortable
using a text editor (MicroEmacs) on an Xterm type window or a text console,
which will happily run on the processor/memory equivalent of a Palm Pilot.

I wrote many lines of low level C code on a Windows NT machine in a DOS box
running edit.

I have PDD(Aspberger's) so I could churn out 300 lines of tested and
documented BAL code a day on a 3270 using Xedit, but would go nuts if I
had to use visual C.
