Perhaps it has to do with the way that it handles inodes and file-
handles?  Since more than one app exihibits the behavior, that
implies that it's happening at a lower level.

I guess they don't expect people to use big db's on their system,
eh?

In the clue-impaired other IT office here, they are going from True-
64 to AIX.  One of my clueful network guys told me that during the
process of trying to fix their AIX boxes' netmasks, the clue-impaired
folks (and their IBM AIX "consultant") managed to hard crash the
box...

I'm starting a pool as to when they give up and go to Solaris.
