I have been using a pair of SS5's, a 110 and a 170 for years. Retired
the SS5/110 2 years ago, but the 170 still does my email, DNS, and other
stuff.

However, both of those machines eat RAM like crazy. Both started out
at 256MB fully populated, and as time went on I had to remove a stick
about every 1-2 years. The 110 was down to 128MB when it was retired,
and recently I had to take the 170 down to 128MB when some of its other
SIMMs failed.

At a couple of Sun shops where I worked, we had the occasional SS5 unit
that would eat RAM, and Sun never offered an explanation for it.

Anyway, anyone else have SSx units that like to eat RAM? Anyone have any
idea what causes it?

Otherwise, my SS5 units have been very reliable.
