Close. I think the current app the Navy office here uses is BCWipe. I 
think the DOD standard they follow is seven full "wipes" of the drive.

Using dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/dsk/whatever really ought to do that. 
Sometimes the Navy folks will put the Unix drive in a PeeCee and run 
BCWipe on it that way so they can say they have followed the rules.
