I retrofitted a Pioneer drive onto my Ultra 30. Those drives seem to read
pretty much anything.

I can't speak for factory-fitted drives since I don't get to play with any
Sun boxes new enough to have them. However I would be surprised if Sun
started stuffing lousy drives in their machines.
