But maybe you haven't yet realized that the missing resistor actually
is a good thing.  When one bulb fails, the resistance is lowered and
the flash time is shortened by about half.  In other words, if the
blinker interval goes from once per second or so to twice per second,
change the bulb that blew.  You have to flip it on and then check
front and rear, but it tells you that one of the two is toast.
