It's somewhat easier if you resort to gcc, although not with the
supplied gcc binary if you're running 5.3 ... they've supplied a 5.2
binary without the fixincludes script to encourage people to get an xlc
license.

It's not a new problem, it used to be "all the world's a VAX" back in
the 1980s.
