I doubt it, but I guess the only sane test is to buy one drive and fit
it to the oldest machine to see how it pans out. If your Suns are on a
support contract, and you can persuade your CD drives to fail, they'll
probably be replaced with DVD drives.

I haven't heard of them being able to do that, but it does sound
interesting enough to try it out although probably most of our servers
that are young enough to have USB are also young enough to have DVD
drives.

I would have thought it was a firmware issue, but it's probably only
something causing a problem with pretty old Sun machines. But see the
first paragraph :)
