Amen to that.  This is why so much experience does not generalize from,
say, Red Hat to Debian, or Slackware to SuSE.  They're almost different
OSen with many common features than they are different distributions of
the same OS.  Witness the whole quagmire of the Linux binary
compatibility standard.
