There are some details of something we did some years ago at www.757.org
under projects. I could dig up the schematics, it's basically data sheet
implementation.

Triac, optoisolator, resistor per channel.

Also used a buffer IC. And ran it via FreeBSD and 8255 chips on a
breadboard in an ISA slot.
