Pardon? What Ethernet card where you using? The 3COM EISA card?
Well, then you are right. The 3COM EISA card is slow and eats lots of
CPU. I haven't seen a Phobos 160 (GIO64 Fast Ethernet) in action. I have
a FDDI card in my I2 R10k and in my Octane and filling that pipe with
100 MBit/s is no big problem for the I2. Even my R4k4-150 I2 can get 80
MBit/s on FDDI. I get 6 MByte/s disk-to-disk NFS from my Octane to my
I2. This is with "old and slow" 8 bit Fast SCSI at the I2.

Well. The MicroSPARC (I + II) machines are _slow_ and the U5 / U10 arn't
that fast either.

Fom my point of view the I2 R10k IMPACT was only a gap filler until the
Octane was ready.
