The first number is the RAID method being used for the first layer of 
protection, so 0+1 is a pair of stripes put into a mirrored volume, 
while 1+0 is mirrored disks placed into a stripe.

1+0 guards against twice as many failure scenarios, is more resistant 
against multiple disk failures (one per mirrored pair), and requires 
less time to rebuild when failed disks are replaced.
