[rescue] OT: Cellphone SMS to email

Is it possible to convince one of the cellphone companies to have a "phone
number" actually go directly to e-mail?

On my T-mobile phone, I can send e-mail, but it's cumbersome. The actual
e-mail address has to be pasted (or worse, typed) into the first line of the
message, and the message sent to a special phone number.

Can T-mobile (or another provider) just make 9995551212 an alias for
"someguy at example.com"? Is it technically possible? Already being done?
Just takes money?

Thanks for any pointers.
