I've got enough sparc systems that I went through the pain once, long
time ago, then just update it when I get a new system that needs an OS
loaded. There's an OBSD netboot install image you can feed the sparc,
has the kernel and miniroot all in one file, boots up and starts the
installer.

If you're going to be installing more than a couple of times, it's worth
the pain.

The 'populate a / filesystem' stuff is if the box is gonna have nothing
local and run everything off the nfs server (which I do for a couple of
systems). Not needed if you're just netbooting the install image.
