It'll run AIX up to 5.1.  It will not run Linux or *BSD.  It has a
POWER2 CPU which is quite fast for its clock speed and age.  It will run
the vast majority of PowerPC binaries (so you can load the full GNU
development suite from the Freeware images at www.ibm.com).

If you want a server out of it, it'll do that well.  If you toss
framebuffers in there, it'll make a snazzy RISC workstation.

There are very few things that the POWER architecture does slowly. :)

AIX 5.1.  5.2 dropped support for everything that isn't PowerPC/CHRP.
