Unicos. It's a SystemV variant. Earlier machines (like *old*
machines that we're not likely to find...Cray-1, X/MP, etc) ran COS and
a few others. Most of those types of systems were used as
back-ends...they didn't run interactive operating systems per se. You
ran jobs on the front-end machines (VAXen, DG, IBM mainframe, etc) and
the back-end Cray would do the math.
Unicos, however, is standalone and interactive. You log into it like
any other UNIX box. It's kinda slow...until you run something that's
vectorizable. Then it'll make you wet your pants.
