There are a number of ways to do this; in my experience you need to
use a few different cleaners for best results.

a. start with Goo Gone or a citrus-based cleaner like Citristrip
Wipe-Away (small green can, at WalMart and maybe Weis Markets too), or
both.

b. finish with either isopropyl alcohol (cheap, works good, no fumes)
or denatured alcohol (more expensive and not as fun to deal with).

Note: for plastic cases, test first on a small area - some cleaners
can mess up certain kinds of plastic.
