Well, that is just to give you the current state of things. The text file
mentioned is dated 2000-03-07 so that should be Sol7 at least. And I can't
find the reference where someone from sun actually explained it on one of
the lists. I know I quoted the url somewhere.

Brian's book is 1/15/1997, so I'm guessing at the very newest it started
in SDS 4. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a LOT earlier.

Very true. Someone should install an old ODS version and recreate the test
in the dsraid10 document :)

In any event, it's been the case for no less than six years now.

This is true. We started looking at some of the performance ideas when I
had some 32x72gb arrays to work with at my last job. :) Although we ended
up going to a third party raid solution, well, technically our own.
