I'm trying to install IRIX 6.5.9 onto my Indy. It is a
clean install, no previous OS on disk. I followed the
initial instructions posed here:
http://www.orcawerks.com/sgi/irix/install.html

I did the

boot -f dksc(0,4,8)sashARCS
boot -f dksc(0,4,7)stand/fx.ARCS --x

stuff and selected "auto". This process of prepping
the disk took about two hours or so. After that was
finished i went back to the maintenance screen and
selected F2 and chose to install via local CDROM.
Everything fine so far. It went through the process of
"Copying installation tools to disk". That process
appeared to complete OK. It then pops up to another
console looking text box and says something to the
effect of "creating miniroot devices". Then in the
same box it says something about the current system
time is yadayadayada. It then immediately drops that
screen and pops up with the following:

PANIC: IRIX Killed due to internal Error.
at PC:0x88014fa0 ep:0xffffc7a0
[Press reset to restart the machine.]

And that's it. I've tried this a few times with the
same results every time. Sorry for the lack of much
technical info here but i don't know sh*t about SGIs
and other than a brief attempt with an incorrect
version of 5.3, this is the first time i have
attempted to install any version of IRIX.

Anyone have any idea what i have going wrong here? Bad
piece of hardware, RAM or cache?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give,
/KRM
