[rescue] Backup question

In our local LUG someone set up a ghetto backup using dd and netcat.
It was great.
Ghetto Ghost I think he called it.
:-)

Though I think it was a dd to a disk image or file.  Then you can just 
have a server storing drive images.
Not a bad setup and you can get netcat on a linux boot floppy or CD.
