I've heard that, too.

Yeppers.  I just wanted to see if the drive worked at all.  If it worked
with a videotape, I figure it was OK.  If not, it wasn't conclusive either
way.  But for US$2.99 it seemed a cheap way to test the drive.

Of course, I've now bought a DLT drive, anyway....
