Not a fair comparison - people don't use turn-of-the-century all-metal
NCR cash registers to "order" food from the "kitchen" - to operate a
cash register, you simply need the skill of finding the price sticker
on the item and punching in the proper price. At McDonalds, people ask
for a Big Mac, not a $2.49 "item."
I used to be amazed that checkout clerks knew all those different
fruits and vegetables, then I realized they had little "cheat" stickers
on them with little 4 digit item codes... (That was a long time ago ;^)
