I run Debian on some of my SPARC64's. I started using Debian when I bought
my first SPARC (SS2) because it was the only current distribution for
SPARC. Now I run Debian whenever I need to run Linux on a server.
I think most free OS's are still playing catch up on SPARC64, but
hopefully it won't be too long before they are close to Solaris in
performance.
Hardware support is behind Solaris, but it may not take them long to catch
up.
I have noticed some problems with various hme drivers out there.
Specifically on OpenBSD and Debian (but they have a patch for Debian that
fixes it). My OpenBSD machine couldn't survive an nmap scan.
Anyways, I like Debian on SPARC (32 and 64).
