I know that, but I'm having a bitch of a time getting a Linux box
to work with it.

Running rarpd:

petra:~ # rarpd -e /etc/ethers -n -v -d -i eth0
rarpd[1858]: rarpd: listening on eth0
Scanning /etc/ethers...
>> # Ethers
>>
>> 8:0:20:A:1:F 192.168.254.100
Found 192.168.254.100...
rarpd[1858]: rarp who-is 8:0:20:a:1:f tell 8:0:20:a:1:f answer
192.168.254.100

Then tcpdump reveals:

17:19:19.491574 rarp who-is 192.168.254.100 tell 192.168.254.100
17:19:19.492645 rarp reply 192.168.254.100 at sparc

17:19:19.519709 arp who-has sparc tell petra.localnet
17:19:20.516100 arp who-has sparc tell petra.localnet
17:19:21.516091 arp who-has sparc tell petra.localnet

arp lists this:

Address HWtype HWaddress Flags Mask Iface
janus.remote ether 00:90:96:28:8A:21 C eth1
sparc (incomplete) eth0
osman.localnet ether 00:02:44:35:1A:8F C eth0

if I do this:
>arp -i eth0 -s 192.168.254.100 "8:0:20:A:1:F"
>arp
Address HWtype HWaddress Flags Mask Iface
janus.remote ether 00:90:96:28:8A:21 C eth1
sparc ether 08:00:20:0A:01:0F CM eth0
osman.localnet ether 00:02:44:35:1A:8F C eth0

I get this on the terminal:

ok boot
Booting from: le(0,0,0)
Got error packet: Error Code 1 Message: File not foundreceive failed
Boot load failed
ok

I wish I knew what the hell was going on. "sparc" isn't letting
anyone know where it is.
