Older 7200 rpm drives, probably no, but newer ones dont make much more
heat than older 5400rpm or slower drives.

Dont put an original 1.6" high Bararacuda 4 (ST15150N) in a SS2/SS1-style
case.  DId that once, then burned my hand on it two hours later.
