At work we've got tons of DLT drives, and the cleaning tapes
are run only when the light comes on.  This seems to work just
fine.  I follow the same policy at home (four TZ88/DLT4000
drives) without any problems.

The cleaning tapes are good for about twelve cycles, IIRC.
