What you might need to be aware of (at least it was this way in Minnesota)
is that you owe taxes on any unemployment benefits you receive. So, take a
third of whatever you receive and put it in the bank, cause you'll need it
at tax time.

Considering the small amount they were paying anyway, with the taxes on top,
I skipped unemployment when the company I was working for tanked a while
back. I worked through savings and did some cash consulting, and made it
through OK. 

This was about 10 years ago- anyone else's situation may be different.  .  .
