The problem isn't maintaining the little file listing open windows/tabs
-- it's knowing when to use it.
GNU Emacs didn't get an integrated facility for doing the equivalent to
this until version 20 or so, and it used to crash far more often than
mozilla! Hindsight is often 20/20.
