Because the drives you buy from compgeeks are not retail or even wholesale.
They are dumped on the market from overstock by the OEMs. Apple gets
discounts and bottom dollar on wholesale prices on premium equipment. Why do
you think you can put a PC together from parts for so much less than an HP
or Dell? It's not because you're paying Dell for labor or even margin. It's
because they pay higher prices than you for parts that you get from OEM
overstock.
