I'd vote for the 11 too.

It is difficult to describe just how usefull a full front panel
is, when trying to learn the low-level workings of a machine.

Even if many of the details of a PDP-11 are different than a
modern machine, having a full front panel outweighs those disadvantages.
(And the universal concepts outnumber the divergent details anyways.)
