can you just isolate the hub and plug this mac and your other mac in to the
hub? If you can't get the two macs seeing each other on a simple hub then
something is probably broken. If you have Appletalk set to use ethernet on
both machines, and appletalk is enabled in the chooser, they should at least
be visible to each other in the chooser.
