I used to have the same problem on my crimson, back in the day. The trick
was to use the fx.IP17 found on the Irix 5.3. Once you had formatted and
labeled the drive (efs), you just have to boot the installation of 6.2 and
it will ask you if you want to convert the drive to xfs.
