But I don't want to have to install this package on the windows
boxes...that package on the solaris boxes...another package on the MacOS
boxes.

All the machines here at home are transparently proxied through the squid
machine.  I'd love to be able to filter out all the garbage THERE instead
of having to maintain a configuration and different packages on half a
dozen other machines.
