[rescue] SMP on intel wasteful?

Wouldn't it have been faster to buy a Mac (some cheap PCI machine for
$50-$75), a G3 upgrade ($80-$100), and a new video card (relevent ATI
and 3DFX cards being under $75 these days)?  Then you'd be out no more
than $250 which is a lot cheaper than a PS2 + linux kit.
