[rescue] SMP on intel wasteful?

I've done the same - I picked up 24-port 10Mb managed switches (2 100Mb 
ports for uplinks) for near nothing.  eBay is full of 'em.  They are 
Compaq 5226a's - good switches, except that the fans are LOUD.
