[rescue] cheapness..

I've never been anyplace where this was _required_. A really _good_ project
manager at a former employer refused to work at home - "if they wanted me to
work at home, they'd provide the equipment/software".
We have enough spare equipment floating around (thanks to the sucky economy)
that every single WinTel user in my office has at least a PIII, 1Mhz, 768mb
RAM system on their desk. I've got my pick o' "low end" systems for
"testing" purposes.
Having said that - a number of the design staff have purchased their own
systems, which they use to work from home. But no one _made_ them do that.

Just a quick question for you all.. Is $my_company the only cheap ass
company out there or do any of you (who are not self employed) run any of
your equipment (unix boxen) at your office?
I constantly use *my* laptop at work as a secondary workstation and also
have a pII400 running a temperature monitoring app there, and then I have
someone else here borrowing one of my macs to use as a
(basically) terminal. The day I leave this place they are gonna go into
shock as I pull all my machines with me. :-)
