[rescue] Missing chip on SS20?

Mine has a heatsink (and I am assuming, something under the heatsink) there.
Their are threads in the heatsink, so I am assuming it is screwed in from
below.

This is a picture of a Sparc 20 motherboard in the ebay auction
lot. On the other 20 without CPUs, there is a heat sink where
the little silver square is (the silver square is a grid of
8x8 little holes).
Is this SS20 toast? Did someone rip a vital component off?
Or is it to absorb heat from the CPU placed above it?
Thanks for any thoughts or info on this one.
