[rescue] LattisLink `managed hub'

I used to laugh when a customer asked for a managed hub. WTF is there to
manage? Turn a port on/off? Look for runts/crc's/etc.? I don't think a
repeater (hub) is even able to flag a CRC or runt. I seem to recall that
with a hub garbage_in = garbage_out. I'd have to go back and read tcp 101 to
be sure. If you partition (early tech-speak for vlans) maybe you could find
it handy to remote manage it.

~ So I've got a Synoptics LattisLink 2800 tooling around in the
~ basement;
~ it'll speak *basic* SNMP if I walk it through a prompt...
~
~ Anyone got any further information about these beasts?
