NetBSD will run well on them. (I think OpenBSD also, but I never used it.)
I used NetBSD on a SS1+ with CG6 for years with X11 and it "Just Worked"
(C) (R) (TM).

When I tried Linux/sparc the last time it was simply a big bunch of bugs.
