I have a 1 GB Jaz drive - the second of it's kind, seeing as the first
one died. Both of them went through media quickly with any kind of
constant use. A 2GB drive used by a customer fared a little better, but
not much. If CD-R/CD-RW doesn't suit you, consider a Castlewood Orb
drive; I've had media fail on those, but they're a lot easier to recover
data from in a crash, and they fail a lot less often.
The price itself is pretty good, assuming that there is any life left in
the cartridges.

Looking for experiences with the SCSI Jaz drives (removable 1 and 2 GB
disks) on Suns and or SGIs.
Good / bad, etc?
I have seen a Jaz external SCSI with 3 x 2GB disks for $133 - is that
a good price?
Cordially
