Fair enough for you to be upset, but...

I don't think 9 people is a representative sample of all eMac owners.
Therefore, I think the term "scandal" is misplaced, moreso since this
isn't an act of gross misbehavior. They *are* at least fixing
them/repairing them.

I guess too few people here are old enough to remember the Apple III.
That was an Apple QC issue. But, if the eMac is made in a 3rd party,
off-shore factory, how is this an Apple QC issue? Sounds like a QC issue
with the subcontractor.

Since you are a journalist, you may want to encourage people to do 2
things. First, send written complaints to Apple. Then file complaints
with the Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.htm.
Unless Apple designates a 3rd party agent to receive service of process,
send complaints to their SoP address. You may also want to contact
various journalists that deal with technology issues on a regular basis,
i.e. Dan Gilmour of the San Jose Mercury News, Jim Coates (though he's an
admitted Mac hater) of the same paper, Larry Maggid (?) who works for
KGO-810 and TechTV IIRC and so on. If there is an issue to be brought up,
they would have the proper contacts for research and analysis.
